In math, students are asked to have their latest math quiz signed. Reminders for swimming for grade 3s:
- bring swimmng gear, such as swimsuit and towel
- bring a snack
- bring a book to read as we will have some down time
Due to swimming, grade 3 will not be able to order pizza tomorrow. For grade four it is pizza as usual.
Friday is backwards day.
Today grade 3s worked on a poem called "The Ice Cream Taster" to practice for the upcoming EQAO assessment. Check out what we did here.
In math, we continue to explore multiplication. Today, it was using the "guess and test" method. Here is a site to practice with younger brothers and sisters.
Play this baseball game using "Multiplication" and "Easy", then after you swing for the fences, challenge yourself with more difficult questions. Opening day is tomorrow, a sure sign of spring!

The grade 6/7 class continues selling baked goods to raise funds for the tsunami/earthquake relief efforts. Everything is $1, just like the dollar store, and goes to a good cause. Swimming reminder - the grade threes start their three week swimming program this Thurs. - please remember to pack towels, swimsuits, and extra dry clothes. Yesterday was our character assembly, with the grade 3/4s singing Here are the words and a little clip: I Tell the Truth In math, we started multiplication today. We introduced the concept of multiplication as repeated adding. Here is the idea: Repeated addition . Have a good night.

Writing - we are writing reports on an animal that we're interested in. Students have already been to the library and had info from the internet given to them. For those interested in doing more, here is a great place to start.

Swimming for Grade 3s - swimming starts next Thursday, the 31st. Permission forms went home today and are due ASAP.

In Health, we have started discussing dangerous substances like drugs and alcohol, with a focus on nicotine. Here is a fun version of an old favourite that help up to four players learn about the dangers of smoking. This site is based in Australia, so some of the questions might stump you.

Note home - for grade fours that signed up for badminton, it starts March 22nd, and goes every Tuesday at 8am. The teachers who are running the sport are asking participants to bring a racquet if they have one.
Today we had a drumming workshop put on by a resource teacher from the Board office. Everyone had a blast, but very sore hands. I had no luck posting a recording I made of one of the songs. Hopefully I can figure this out during the break.

Math - this week we will be reviewing place value, adding and subtracting, and maybe even get into some money.
Language - we have started analyzing texts and will focus on the difference between fiction and non-fiction. We have begun thinking about how to write full paragraphs with topic and detail sentences. After the break we will work on reports
EQAO - grade three did a little practice EQAO today. Check out "The Wooly Mammoth" from this booklet from last year.
